“Boys from many of the Island’s U8 and U9 football teams took part in a mini-tournament on Sunday 22nd July, looking to raise funds for Sophie Rolf and the charity KissyPuppy and Brainstrust.
The event was held at West Wight Sports field in glorious sunshine and was supported by a large number of the boys’ families and friends. In the end it was not possible to separate the finalists as both matches were drawn. In the spirit of the day, the decision was made to share the honours, with the U8 winners being the West Wight and Gurnard teams, and the U9 winners, West Wight 2 and Wight Cherries 2 teams. The penalty shoot-out was even more exciting.
Organisers would like to extend their warmest thanks to all those who came and made this such a special day, including all those who played, and to everyone for their wonderfully kind generosity. Taking into account some private donations, including £160 from West Wight Football Club, we were able to raise an amazing £1000 for the charity.”
