West Wight FC Charity Day for Sophie Rolf

A fantastic £2000 was raised for Sophie Rolf on Sunday and is a testament to what a fantastic community we are part of.

Despite the best efforts of the weather West Wight Football Club hosted a truly memorable day. Everyone worked extremely hard to make it what it was, because today was about everyone that kicked a ball or flipped a burger or chucked in money just to walk through the gate….great effort everyone!

The highlights today were the West Wight Vets vs Sydenham’s (4-5 if you ask Sydenham’s, 5-5 if you ask West Wight Vets!) We’re told Denty scored 4 and Lee Rogers saved a penalty.

Morning Glory provided the musical entertainment and was received really well as was Deano doing the raffle.

The Ladies match turned into a very competitive affair despite nearly all the participants claiming they weren’t all that keen before the game.

Vicky, Kirsten and Carla scoring for the WW ladies with special mention for Hollie for her performance, great defending but with a constant smile, and best wipe out!

For the Sextons, Trish in goal with her Bacardi and Coke, Yvonne ending up on her bottom and utter determination from Alanna and Nicola were highlights along with the goal scoring prowess and mercurial talents of Rosie and Leoni. But all the girls were incredible and should be proud of the show they put on, fair play.

Until very recently Sophie Rolf was a happy go lucky little 4 year old girl living on the Isle of Wight with not a care in the world.

During May 2012 a Sophie ‘s parents noticed a tremor in her left arm and after numerous hospital visits and finally an MRI scan in June, the family received the terrible news that Sophie has brain cancer.

Sophie has an aggressive brain tumour and was set a course of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and was accepted on a drug trial within weeks of diagnosis.

We have set up KissyPuppy as a mechanism to fund raise for Sophie. The money raised will be used to support Sophie’s journey through this and to ensure Sophie and her family get as many magical experiences as possible.
