So November is upon us and with it comes a customary post.

When you lose a child, days, weeks, months and years can lose all meaning. They can merge seamlessly into one or stand alone. Some days the grief can, and will, overwhelm you and other days you find reasons to laugh….which is quickly followed by the guilt that you are still here to feel such things.

November was the month that we started so many journeys. We began our partnership with Mountbatten and together we changed the face of hospice care not only on our island but nationwide by equipping and opening the rooms available to children. We were the first and ONLY Hospice which offered care to adults and children alike whilst losing none of the services on offer. Alongside this amazing feat was the official opening of Sophie’s Shop which has gone from strength strength and carries Sophie’s name so many years after she left us.

November was also the month that we lost our darling girl and is why we make the effort to ensure a little more is done this month over others and this November will be no different. We will strive to make a terrible month a little better. We have plenty planned and will update later in the week.

The Shop window has been beautifully decorated with the symbol that we associate with Sophs the best….if you’re in Newport go and take a look and maybe spend some pennies so we can help make memories for others.

Memories can cut us or fill us with joy but one thing they do is remind us of what we have lost and what we have loved. We are nothing without them and they can carry us through day….no matter how heavy they are.

This month above all Sophs we will remember you, we will love you, and we will do our best to make you proud.
